The Wyrdseekers

To the Wyrdseekers, Soroth Kor is no mere ruin - it is a cosmic puzzle, a playground for minds too ambitious to remain tethered to sanity. They chase knowledge not for survival or salvation, but for power. Each discovery is a step closer to godhood, or so they believe. But the city is a liar, and its truths are as likely to destroy them as they are to exalt them.

The Wyrdseekers are an arcane warband obsessed with unearthing Soroth Kor’s otherworldly secrets. Led by Kaeloran the Aether-Seer, a visionary and deeply ambitious sorcerer-lord, the Wyrdseekers believe the city holds the keys to transcending mortality and reshaping reality itself. They are driven by an all-consuming desire to capture and study the Aetherian Messengers, enigmatic beings believed to carry fragments of ancient wisdom and raw power.

Each member of the warband has been reshaped, both mentally and physically, by their pursuit of forbidden knowledge. While their methods are meticulous and their arcane tools ingenious, they teeter on the brink of madness, often falling victim to the very forces they seek to control.

Kaeloran, the Aether-Seer: The Wyrdseekers’ leader is a charismatic and enigmatic sorcerer who claims to have glimpsed the fabric of the cosmos. Kaeloran’s vision drives the warband, inspiring both fear and reverence among its members. He seeks to use the Aetherian Messengers to ascend beyond mortal limits, though his increasing detachment from reality suggests his ambitions may destroy him - and the Wyrdseekers - first.

The Trackers: Specialists in locating Aetherian Messengers, the Trackers are hunters enhanced by arcane rituals and mutations. Their elongated limbs, additional eyes, and antennae-like growths allow them to sense the faintest traces of Aetherian energy, guiding the Wyrdseekers through Soroth Kor’s twisted streets.

The Binders: These arcane scholars and technicians are tasked with subduing and capturing Messengers using enchanted nets, binding staffs, and containment vessels. Their mastery of magic makes them invaluable, though their constant exposure to unstable energies warps their minds and bodies.

The Researchers: The most fanatical members of the Wyrdseekers, the Researchers are tasked with decoding the cryptic messages and energies harvested from captured Messengers. Their relentless pursuit of knowledge often leaves them physically and mentally ravaged, yet their work is central to the Wyrdseekers’ goals.

While the Wyrdseekers believe their discoveries will elevate them to godhood, many fear their experiments will unleash catastrophic forces upon the city. Their tools and ingenuity make them formidable opponents, but their hubris and growing instability are as much a threat to themselves as to Soroth Kor.

“Kaeloran dreams of godhood, but he doesn’t see the truth: the city gives nothing freely. He’s as much a pawn as the rest of us.” – Mistress Sylira

“Their tools are ingenious, but their minds are broken. A dangerous combination.” – Orin Blackheart
