The Splintered Herd
Reality itself could not bear the presence of the Splintered Herd. To encounter them is to glimpse chaos unshackled, flesh untethered from form. They are not merely beasts, but a nightmare given form - a herd torn between worlds, held together only by rage and cursed will.
The Splintered Herd once roamed the untamed wilds, devoted to Chaos but maintaining a tenuous connection to the Mortal Realms. However, their exposure to Soroth Kor’s cursed energy warped them beyond recognition. This warband of Beastmen became infused with strange, chaotic energies, causing them to flicker in and out of physical reality. Their forms are a grotesque paradox - half-beast, half-phantom.
Led by shamanic leaders who have embraced this fractured state, the Herd seeks to harness their cursed nature as a source of power. They believe their condition is a gift from the Dark Gods, a trial that will either shatter them completely or transform them into entities of unparalleled strength.
The Splintered Herd is both predator and prey within Soroth Kor’s labyrinthine streets. They see themselves as chosen agents of Chaos, tasked with spreading discord and feeding the city’s hunger for destruction. Yet their fractured state makes them vulnerable to Soroth Kor’s predatory nature, as their very existence seems to destabilize the reality of their surroundings.
The Herd clashes frequently with other factions, drawn to artifacts and leyline nexuses that may help stabilize - or further destabilize - their cursed forms. Their unpredictable appearances make them a constant threat to warbands navigating Soroth Kor’s ruins.
“There’s poetry in their plight. Broken beasts, grasping for meaning in their ruin. They remind me of us all.” – Rakkar the Ragged
