What is Soroth Kor?
Soroth Kor, known as The Silent City, was introduced in Tome of Champions 2021 as a unique campaign setting for Warcry 1st Edition. Depicted as a mysterious, ruined city in the Bloodwind Spoil, Soroth Kor was long abandoned and shrouded in unnatural silence. The campaign followed warbands venturing into the metropolis in search of power, lost relics, and dominion over its forsaken streets. What set Soroth Kor apart was its narrative-driven gameplay, emphasizing territory control and strategic conquest. Unlike standard Warcry campaigns, where battles were loosely connected, Soroth Kor introduced a territory-based progression system, where victories and defeats directly impacted a warband’s control over the city. Instead of following a linear battle sequence, players rolled on a territory table after each match, determining whether they gained new holdings, reinforced existing ones, or lost ground. This added a layer of strategy beyond individual battles, rewarding long-term planning and warband growth.
Return to Soroth KorReturn to Soroth Kor is a new take on the city's dangers, updating it for 2nd Edition and expanding its campaign mechanics, artifacts, and narrative possibilities while preserving its core identity. The opening description of Soroth Kor, now credited to Orin Blackheart, remains unchanged as a foundation for the setting. The territory exploration mechanics that defined the original campaign have also been preserved, ensuring that warbands still shape the city’s fate through conquest, survival, and strategic choices. My goal with this project has been to transform Soroth Kor from a campaign with a single narrative into a living, dynamic setting—one where multiple warbands can carve out their own legends, struggles, and destinies, all within the suffocating grasp of The Silent City. Whether you’re seeking innovative mechanics, or compelling lore to enrich your battles, here is everything you need to begin your journey into the city that devours.
