The Grim Reliquary

The Grim Reliquary was born from noble intent - a holy order sent to safeguard the spirits of the fallen and protect the relics of lost realms. But noble intentions cannot withstand the rot of Soroth Kor. Twisted by the city’s predatory nature, the Reliquary became something darker: obsessive collectors driven by the belief that only through their work can the fallen find redemption.

They march beneath banners of bone and ash, their ranks bolstered by relics they refuse to part with and spirits bound to their will. To some, they are saviors, giving meaning to the lost. To others, they are thieves, robbing graves and plundering legacies for their own deluded cause.

Once a devout order aligned with the forces of Order, the Grim Reliquary was tasked with preserving the artifacts and spirits of those who perished in the Mortal Realms’ endless wars. They were to bring dignity to the dead, ensuring their memory and relics were not defiled.

But Soroth Kor’s influence twisted their purpose. Within its cursed walls, the Reliquary began to see themselves as the sole arbiters of salvation. They became fanatical in their belief that collecting relics, bones, and spirits would serve a higher purpose, perhaps one revealed in a grand reckoning that only they can foresee.

The Reliquary operates with religious conviction, viewing their actions as penance for the living and redemption for the dead. However, their obsession has alienated them from their original mission. Now, they are feared as much as they are revered.

The Grim Reliquary sees Soroth Kor as both a cursed battleground and a sacred opportunity. They scour the city for relics, often coming into conflict with warbands and scavengers who view their actions as theft. Their obsession with the city’s spiritual and material remnants drives them to every corner of Soroth Kor, from the Delve to the Venom Gardens.

Though they claim to serve a higher purpose, many see the Reliquary as little more than grave robbers - zealous and dangerous, driven by a mission they themselves barely understand. Their interactions with other factions are often strained, marked by suspicion and conflict.
